• Build Bangladesh Impact Fund

    ICL signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on August 09, 2017 with intention to launch a USD 100 million Impact Fund, subject to the approval of the regulator(s). The fund is expected to be raised from the global investors and will be invested in equity and equity linked securities of Bangladesh.

      • To attain an above market return through investment in non-listed companies with growth opportunities in Bangladesh, along with ability to create positive social/environmental impact.

      • Institutional investors and High-net worth individual with surplus money to invest for long term growth.
      • Above Average Ability and Willingness to assume risk (Risk-Tolerance) of equity investments.
      • Intention to help the entrepreneurs grow.
      • Managed through actively investing in equity and equity linked securities of non-listed companies.
      • Portfolio will be build-up of non-listed companies with high growth potential and ability to generate positive and measurable social/environmental impact.

      • Investment risk is relatively ‘Above Average’ due to investment in equity and equity linked securities of non-listed companies. However, this results into a higher risk-adjusted return, in the long term, as well. In addition, risk is kept in control with the following steps taken upfront at ICL,

      • Investment horizon of the fund will be 10 years.
      • The fund will invest based on thorough rigorous investment research and due diligence to generate long-term growth in investment for the investors.
      • The fund will invest at least 75% of the fund in Equity and Equity linked instruments of non-listed companies, and the remainder might be invested in capital market instruments.
      • Security Allocation: not more than 5% of the fund size shall be invested in any single non-listed company.
      • Sector Limitation: not more than 25% of the fund size shall be invested in any single sector.
      • Company selection will be based on Impact Investment guidelines.
      • Semi-annual (Un-Audited) reports/Audited Reports would be available on the website and would be e-mailed to investors, as well.
      • A portfolio statement of the fund would be available on the website and would be emailed to the investors, as well.
      • An impact assessment report on the investee companies of the fund would be available on the website and would be emailed to the investors, as well.
